July 2007 -- Sand Hollow Resort -- Fiber to the Home Infrastructure

Fiber infrastructure buildout beginning July of 2007 at Sand Hollow Resort.

Sand Hollow Resort is building infrastructure for Fiber to the Home or FTTH. FTTH is a form of fiber optic communication delivery in which the optical signal reaches the end user's home. At Sand Hollow Resort our fiber network will be a star topology where each home will have a "home run" to the central office or CO. A home run means that each home will have two strands of fiber (one active and one spare for the future) run directly from the central office to the home. A central office is where all of the fiber will terminate and interconnect with voice, video, data, and other communication services.

What will FTTH provide Homeowners at Sand Hollow Resort?
FTTH at Sand Hollow Resort will provide high speed voice, video, data and a variety of other communication services.

How fast is the fiber network?
The network will initially run at 1Gbps (1 gigabit per second).

What kind of Internet data speeds, voice and video services can a Sand Hollow Resort resident expect?
Negotiations with service providers are in process. However, it is anticipated that Internet access speeds will start at 15Mbps(15 megabits per second up/down stream) and go up from there. Voice and video services will also run over the fiber network and we anticipate a variety of channel offerings.

How future proof is the FTTH network at Sand Hollow Resort?
As part of Sand Hollow Resorts fiber infrastructure 2-4" conduit will be installed from each home to the central office in order to future proof the network design. Conduit allows for future communications capabilities easy installation.
